Sometimes I think Natural Horsemanship gets a bad rap... People think those who use "natural horsemanship" methods don't really know what they're doing, their vanilla...mocus or namby-pamby.
A very hard core, old school, if you will, horsewoman told me to never discount another breed or disipline. I thought, really? What could she possibly know. After all, I was a quarter horse gal. All she had was a dirty pair of boots and a bunch of grade type horses. (all very well care for by the way)
Well, 15 years later and if I saw her I'd thank her today. I've trained and worked in a variety of barns, diciplines and breeds.
The bottom line for me is bad horsemanship knows no boundries, not one breed or discipline or style of training from another.
The same goes for good horsemanship too!
Keeping an open mind has been my greatest asset. I take what I can use and leave the rest behind.
